UPS Settings - does this work in the UK?

Unfortunately we are still having problems with the UPS Shipping rates however we appear to have tracked down the cause (we just don't know how to fix ti!).

A customer placed an order for 6 different products on our website, a combined weight of 6.72kg. UPS returned an incorrect Shipping fee of £37.02.
We logged into the client's UPS account and set up the same order - same delivery address, same weight - and the shipping was quoted at £10.13 which is the correct negotiated rate.

So, we jumped back to the website and tried to re-create the problem except, being lazy and knowing the each product weights the same, we just added one item to the cart but selected a quantity of 6.
This time, UPS returned the correct shipping rate of £10.13!

Our conclusion is that eCart is sending a shipping request for each individual line item to UPS as opposed to combining seperate line items as one package.

When we initially were looking at another error in our confirm_cart.php page I remember you made a change to the following section of code:

$Shipping_PackageArray[] = array();
$Shipping_PackageIndex = sizeof($Shipping_PackageArray)-1;
$Shipping_PackageArray[$Shipping_PackageIndex]["eCart_Quantity"] = (($Shipping_Packaging == 1)?$whiskyCART->DisplayInfo("Quantity"):1);
$Shipping_PackageArray[$Shipping_PackageIndex]["IsPackage"] = "true";
$Shipping_PackageArray[$Shipping_PackageIndex]["Quantity"] = "1";
$Shipping_PackageArray[$Shipping_PackageIndex]["WeightUnits"] = "".strtoupper($whiskyCART->WeightSuffix)."S" ."";
$Shipping_PackageArray[$Shipping_PackageIndex]["PackageWeight"] = "".WA_eCart_FormatNumber($whiskyCART->TotalColumn('TotalWeight'), true, 1) ."";
$Shipping_PackageArray[$Shipping_PackageIndex]["PackageType"] = "02";
$Shipping_PackageArray[$Shipping_PackageIndex]["SizeUnits"] = "CM";
$Shipping_PackageArray[$Shipping_PackageIndex]["PackageLength"] = "2";
$Shipping_PackageArray[$Shipping_PackageIndex]["PackageWidth"] = "2";
$Shipping_PackageArray[$Shipping_PackageIndex]["PackageHeight"] = "2";

Checking some other posts I noticed that the Quanity array is usually set up like this:
$Shipping_PackageArray[$Shipping_PackageIndex]["Quantity"] = "".WA_eCart_FormatNumber($eCart1->DisplayInfo('Quantity'), true, 1) ."";

So I'm assuming that was the part you changed - simply to a value of "1". Out of curiosity, and in a desperate attempt to pretend I know what I'm donig (!), I put that line back in but now £37.02 is being charged if I have 6 of the same item OR 6 different items.

I've changed it back because at least customers can still order single products and get the correct shipping rate that way.

Anyway, we're at your mercy again because there is clearly something wrong with the way UPS is interpreting the quantity and/or different line items.

Hope you can help.
Thank you.
NJ

EDIT:

UPS support just responded with this, which confirms our suspicions:

Dear Nathon,

Thank you for your inquiry. The request file reflected 6 packages instead of 6 items in 1 package. Due to the many possible programming languages and environments, we do not support client code directly. You will have to update your code to reflect the number of packages you are sending. The rates returned to your shopping cart are determined by the information passed to it. In other words, the shopping cart provides information based on weight, dimensions, and UPS account number to UPS; UPS then provides rates based on that information.

Please contact us if you need any additional assistance.

...and then this:

Dear Nathon,

Thank you for your inquiry. The request file contains 6 Package containers. Each Package container represents a different package.

Please contact us if you need any additional assistance.

eCart is sending a seperate package container for each individual item it seems. Hope you can help us resolve this.
Thank you.
