What pattern do I need to jQuery Validate a value less than a particular number?

Yes, because it cant be done that way.

Let me check with Ray to see what he would suggest, I don't know how he implemented the lookup, so I need to check with him. I'll let you know when I have more details.  

My question about the numeric range validation related to jQuery and whether or not it was possible to do that with jQuery.

You suggested that it would have to be done using server validation so I then went on to describe my solution. I'm not sure why you're trying to combine two different questions from two different posts.
