Inline Editing not working on remote site

The PowerCMS works fine on the local host. However, once I migrated files and database to the live server, the inline editing and CKEditor does not work. The config.js and ckedit scripts are not being included in the head section. Interestingly these are absolute paths in the loacalhost installation (see screenshots from FireBug below) and those are the ones that are not included on the live server.
Not sure about the value of the cms_root variable…
First picture is the localhost (XAMPP), second picture is the remote host.
Note that basic editing works on the remote side from the admin_cms side but just source code edit, no ckedit shows up because the includes are also missing in these pages. Basic editing updates the DB and the changes show up in the pages. This tells me that the DB is basically working.

Any idea what the problem might be. I looked at the database and could not find any relevant entries that could explain that behavior… Also checked permissions.
