Can a search result be linked to a store

Can a search result be linked to a store

We are creating an on line store that has a pretty hefty database of products. We would like to organize the shopping experience so that a buyer can look at various categories and shop based upon the chosen category. We would also like a search function to be present on the site throughout which we have used DataAssist to accomplish this on other projects. Does DataAssist allow your search results to be connected to your store? If I search "softball bat" and the search results show three different softball bats, is it possible for the shopper to click on the softball bat that they want and go to a page to select "add to cart"?

Any direction would be greatly appreciated.
