de-crypt password

Thread began 11/24/2012 8:50 am by jamie424562 | Last modified 11/24/2012 6:20 pm by jamie424562 | 724 views | 1 replies

Miguel

jamie424562 sorry to give you this news but encrypted passwords even the old ways with md5 now sha1 they can not be de-crypted there is not way to do that on any server, thats the point of them for security its a format that is only one way around and no way back.

Now what i do on admin panels where i have passwords i delete the value in the field and then i do a condition in the update behavior instead of binding in the update the post field for the password i add a bit more

php:
<?php echo ((isset($_POST["Password"]) && $_POST["Password"] != "")?WA_SHA1Encryption($_POST["Password"]):"".$row_WADAmyrecord['Password'].""); ?>

notice i compare in that sentence if the post field is not empty post the new password and it applys again the encryption if the Post field is empty then leave the data of the record for the password and it inserts the encrypted old password without changing it.

After that i change my validation on the page i set the password to allow it to be empty server side and also the spry data i set it to false

Hope this helps.
