View in browser without logging in

I wanted to follow up on this since it's been resolved, in case someone else is trying to accomplish the same thing. I wasn't sure if I should have started a different thread since the O/P was on a slightly different topic but here goes.

Durring a support ticket connection with Ray Borduin of WebAssist, this is what he concluded.

(Ray's words...)

  "We had to comment out the first check for the logged in user, then we had to remove another function call that checked for a valid user to view the email, then we had to update the SQL statement to not cross reference the logged in userID with the ID of the user that got sent the email."

So, here is what he did. Changes made to the archive.php page only.

(1)- Comment out the SecurityAssist page access rule (line 13)

//if (!WA_Auth_RulePasses("Logged in to users")){

(2)- Change this line (line 23 in my case)

(3)- Then change the SQL (line 33 in my case)

$query_MailingUser = sprintf("SELECT * FROM pm1_users WHERE UserID = %s AND UserID = %s", GetSQLValueString($userID, "int"), GetSQLValueString($sessionUserID, "int"));

$query_MailingUser = sprintf("SELECT * FROM pm1_users WHERE UserID = %s", GetSQLValueString($userID, "int"));

That's it. Now the user can click on the HTML email link "View in your browser" and it will open in the browser without having to log in. So if they forward the email to a friend, that friend can view it in the browser also.

Note: Ray pointed out that this will disable any personalized "Tokens" added into the format of the email. So if it says "Dear [Name Token Here]" then that won't get filled in. Not sure what it will put there since I haven't tested that, but good to keep in mind.

Thanks again WA,
