Using Jquery to update prices from a recordset

I have a list/menu to select items which I use before hitting the Add to Cart.

When an item is selected in the list I want to display the price for the selected item, on the client side without pressing any buttons.

I am able to use jquery when the item is selected, to get the selected product ID and then set text on the page.

The only issue now is these prices are in a recordset.

Is there a good way to look up a recordset value with Jquery.

I thought of using hidden fields pre-populated with the values from a recordset so jquery can read them, but I was wondering if there is a cleaner way to to this.
