Any tips on creating sitemap for WordPress?

There are plugins that create Google compatible sitemap in WP that seem to work OK, but I was wondering if The plugin ins create URLS to pages, posts and categories. To compare I created a couple of site maps using Surveyor and got mixes results. One one test, only the homepage URL was listed. Tried it to go 5 levels deep but ended up with links to all the includes and supporting files

Any ideas on how to configure Surveyor to just provide the relevant content? would it be better just to stay with the plug ins?
