PayPal options with eCart

Can eCart work with Web Site Payments Standard (I think that's what it's called) in addition to Web Site Payments Pro? This would be for a client who doesn't want to shell out $29 a month for the "pro" version. Thanks!

Yes it can, but the options for order administration are limited and/or more difficult to implement. The basic shopping and checkout experience can be accomplished with paypal standard, but security for post payment processing and receipt emails is more difficult with paypal standard since it involves IPN, but it is still possible.

So, if the web site owner wants to offer downloadable content, this would be very difficult to implement because of the lack of control, right?

Correct. This would be difficult, but not impossible. It is much easier when you use the professional version because you actually control the transaction from your website instead of having the transaction take place on the paypal web site.

This difference makes any application that includes post-payment functionality much easier to create with a local checkout solution such as paypal direct pay and express checkout.
