Hi all,

I have been able to submit an XML site map with Surveyor, and get the appropriate response pages from the search engines.

I have good keywords/description in the page head content, as well as the page title.

My questions are:
1. Do I still need to submit the URL separately via Google webmaster tools, and put the snippet of code in the head content?
2. How long do the bots usually take, it has been > 2 weeks, and the page is still not showing up in Google searches.

Any info./advice is most appreciated, thanks again!
:)

Surveyor fully handles the submission of your sitemap to Google so you do not need resubmit it via Google Webmaster Tools - although it wouldn't hurt if you chose to do so (just don't do it too often) and your also be able to track it. If you do not have a Webmaster Tools account it's definitely worth signing up as it provides a ton of great information and is also a great resource to help you improve your site's visibility in Google search results over time http://www.google.com/webmasters/

The length of time it takes for Google to index a site can vary greatly (anywhere from a week to a few months) however here are some things you can do to help speed things up:

Provide Google with Your URL
- Click the following link to give Google your URL: http://www.google.com/addurl

Submit a Sitemap
- Google uses a sitemap to learn about the structure of your site and to increase coverage of your webpages. Essentially a sitemap tells Google what pages on your site are the most important, how frequently pages on your site are updated, and also helps ensure that Google finds the most important pages of your site. However, while submitting a sitemap is a good practice it won't guarantee that your site is indexed.

Gain Inbound Links
- Since neither of the above methods will guarantee your site get indexed gaining inbound links to your site is a great way to ensure search engines find you. Google actually locates the majority of new sites by sending out their automated spiders to crawl sites and follow links. If Google crawls a site and follows a link to your site then bam! your found :-) Oh yeah, and you'll want links from reputable/quality sites. A link from a "bad" site won't help and can actually hurt you.
