View Full Version : Upload and resize to multiple images
Hi
I was wondering if anyone knows a way to use DFP to upload an image but create multiple files from this one upload that changes the size of each picture. e.g.
Upload file A
Upload creates a thumbnail (puts this in thumbnail folder)
Upload creates a medium size image (puts this in medium folder)
Upload creates a large size image (puts this in the large folder)
I dont know if DFP can be changed to do this. I know WebAssist are working on a new DFP but that proberbly wont be for a while.
If DFP cannot do this then does anyone know a program that can? I also want the uploaded file to be instered into a database (just like DFP does using the Server File Name in the bindings)
Also, does WebAssist know when there next DFP will be availiable as I have seen many posts in the forum (mainly in the old forum) for new features, this should be easier now you are only supporting PHP.
Thanks in advance

The development of this product and features is complete. We are completing QA and then it will be released. It will likely still be a month or so before it is publicly available, but it will accomplish the described result if you aren't too pressed for time.
There is a hand-coded example of this in the power store as well.. basiclly you can use the gd2 library to manipulate the images after they are uploaded, but you would have to do it by hand to integrate into DFP v1.
Thanks for the reply Ray,
I am happy to hear that the new version is coming soon. I have been trying to get something like your DFP in other programs but no luck.
I will wait for it to come out now.
Thanks

We may not get all of the features in this version, but we appreciate the feedback and we will strive for perfection and add more features in time.

There is a DW Extension in DMX zone, called "Smart Image Processor PHP 2"
Link is http://www.dmxzone.com/go?13327
Has some very nice features but you also need Pure PHP Upload 2 from the same company to make it work. So this will cost some $124 for this.

Our extension update to DFP for this functionality is complete and in the testing phase. It should be available soon for php users.

Great news! Several clients will love not having to create multiple versions and upload each size. Thanks!

This release will primarily include uploading and creating multiple copies of a single upload with different formats and the addition of a progress indicator while the form is submitting.
We are not working on delete or multiple record updates functionality. I am not at liberty to give release dates, but it is currently in QA and will be released when QA is complete and we have a stable build.
Has some very nice features but you also need Pure PHP Upload 2 from the same company to make it work. So this will cost some $124 for this.
Incorrect, with a bit of progamming knowledge you can make this work with Web Assists Digital File Pro just by using Session variables. Its very easy to do.
I'm looking forward to the next release of DFP though :-)

It would be gr8 if it could be released as soon as possible.
Im running a project and waiting to see if ill use DFP or another extension and i always prefer to use only 1 Extension suit rather than combinations.
I wont lie to anyone. I'm a former Interakt customer and even Adobe's Developer Toolbox customer which was intentionaly shut down by adobe for different reasons.
Webassist does have a lot of similarities and in some way its better as it produces cleaner code and doesnt have too many includes as ADT had. Some basic features though are still missing. One of those is image manipulation in DFP and easy managing it.
Even for pro developers its much faster to make a website using Webassist tools rather than reinventing the wheel. So even if sometimes criticising on some webassist products im still 100% with it.
Just please guys, hurry up on some stuff. Some things are very basic/essential stuff of rapid web development. Give us the assets we need to create Top dynamic web pages and at a good price for our employees as our Time spend is a Cost that our customers have to pay for.
Need that DFP update asap.
P.S. I urge early developers do not mix extensions from different authors in order to accomplish what u trying. Its a mess believe me im in the business for years. Better get a good Development Suite and learn its code, then code the extra things u need and use forums to ask for requests :)
Happy Development ;)
