I get two JS errors over and over every time I open DW, close a file, open a file, etc. How can I uninstall the WA Momento?

I even get get errors when trying to turn it off in the Preferences! There must be a workaround. Where can I find the file to delete it?

Extremely annoying

Try deleting your winfilecache.dat file... that will likely fix all of the errors and then you can easily disable it.

I deleted the file in the Configuration folder, but now get the following message over and over, making DW all but unusable:

file:///c:/Users/Paul/AppData/Roaming/Adobe/Dreamweaver%209/Configuration/Commands/RelatedFilesForCS3ToolbarFilelist.html

It's ok, I finally hunted down everything related to the memento and killed it thrice over...

Are there any detailed steps to remove (not disable) this for Mac users?

Thanks,
Leslie

There are no detailed steps for complete removal available.

If you disable it, it becomes completely inactive. There is no need to go through the trouble of completely removing it.

My copy of DW CS3 (for Mac) has recently started taking an absolute age to start up. The splash screen loads and it just hangs for sometimes several minutes before all the components start to load.

I'm trying to troubleshoot this and thought it might be something to do with the Memento panel that opens at start (trying to download RSS feeds, etc). I read in several places that you just go to Edit > WebAssist Preferences, etc and you can disable it but I am simply unable to find any form of Edit link. Should I be looking in the line of icons that say Dismiss All, Dismiss, Open Item and Refresh, or is there some option in the drop down icon top-right? It can't be that because the only options I see there are about maximising the panel group or grouping with other windows. There is also nothing about WebAssist in the main menu bar under Edit.

Also, the Memento window does not appear in the list when I go to the top menu bar and choose Window, so if I close the panel, I can only get it back by restarting DW. Can anyone help?

I believe editing preferences is different for the Mac:

Thanks for taking the trouble to answer, although it didn't really lead me anywhere. As I said, I have DW CS3, not CS4, and besides, the Preferences in your link are for DW in general. The WA Memento panel must be accessed from somewhere else.

Anyone else know how to do this?

Many thanks.

I have opened a support ticket so someone can walk you through disabling memento.

Do you have site import v2 installed? We recently fixed a bug that was causing it to hang on startup, installing the newest build may fix that problem.

Webassist should stop that practise immediately. The memento is very annoying and intrusive. It also makes my CS4 installation unstable.
This is an alert. I cannot imagine the brain who inspired in 2009 by these practises.

You can simply disable it and it won't do anything.

Wind XP Pro SP3

I have already disabled Web Assist. I want to get it completely out of my system. I have enough bloatware as it is. Can you point me to steps to get rid of it? What registry keys should I look for?

There are no registry keys. Disabling it effectively removes all functionality, so there is no bloat. It is a very small file that simply reads our RSS feed. If you disable it, it will not do anything.

I have CS3. Where do I go to disable this. I have hunted everywhere for a preference box.

I agree with the rest of you. WA had no right adding this always open nuisance to my program.

Hi Carlene,

In DreamWever CS3 Menu, go to Edit > WebAssist Preferences > Choose 'Memento' from the options on the left > Select 'Never' from the select list on the right.

That should do it.
