Hi, I have installed IRite and after I paste the following:

Welcome!

Our practice was formed in 1992. As part of Medical Psychology Associates, I see a variety of adult clients for outpatient mental health treatment.

This website provides you with a brief overview of our practice philosophy, populations that we serve, and directions to our office. In addition, please feel free to use the email link to ask specific questions or schedule an appointment. Once scheduled you can print out the appropriate forms and bring them to your initial appointment. As psychologists, we do not prescribe medication, but if indicated, we do consult with psychiatrists and/or your own medical provider.

As a courtesy, our office does bill your insurance company for you, however you need to provide us with the information they require. We do participate with many insurance carriers (eg., BC/BS, Multiplan, PHCS), however we cannot quote you how much they will cover until we have your specific information. Your co-payment (amount not covered by your insurance plan) can be made by check, cash or charge.

We look forward to meeting with you.

and after I hit update record, Irite turns it into:

<p><strong>Welcome!</strong></p><p>Our practice was formed in 1992.* As part of Medical Psychology Associates, I see a variety of adult clients for outpatient mental health treatment.*</p><p>This website provides you with a brief overview of our practice philosophy, populations that we serve, and directions to our office.* In addition, please feel free to use the email link to ask specific questions or schedule an appointment.* Once scheduled you can print out the appropriate forms and bring them to your initial appointment. How do I fix this?

What would you expect iRite to do with it? Please explain the problem with the output and the expected output?

Are you serious?

It is supposed to look exactly like it did when I pasted it in.

I wasn't looking at the source code.

after I save it.

Not so with Irite.

Where are you viewing it after saving it... my guess is that there is code added to make it display this way... What does the code look like on the page? Is this directly from a DataAssist generated page? If so there may be html encoding going on so that it would display properly in the textarea you used to have and that very code is making it not work properly with iRite.

My guess is that iRite is inserting it properly and that the value is specifically encoded where it is displayed so that the html will display. Please post the line of code where iRite is used and I can see if I can spot the fix.

Look at the value set for the iRite field. I think it is set to an encoded version of the database column.

(I was asking for the iRite code in DW... there is nothing wrong with what you are cutting and pasting)

But...what should the encoding be set to for a normal text area (built by Dreamweaver cs4) for .php in order for the output to be what a browser would output?

Ray Borduin

No encoding should be necessary.

I was having trouble with iRite munging URLs in links I had created. I clicked around on the checkboxes in the Formatting tab and that fixed it. I'm still not sure what was causing the issue, but it doesn't do it anymore.

As a wild-*ss guess your issue may have something to do with the "Clean WYSIWYG code" box on the Formatting tab and the "Source" control in the iRite window (then again, it may not). Wish I could be more definate, but I'm just learning to use configure it as well.

Now I am on a different site and trying irite once again. Its doing the same thing. I paste something into the irite text editor and it looks fine. Then I update the record (I submit the form) and the wysiwyg doesn't quite look like wysiwyg any more. It looks fine on the other side but since I am building this site for people who don't know html, it would be super if this would stop happening. Here is the code for one of the entire admin pages:

<?php require_once('Connections/davidmiller.php'); ?>
<?php require_once("../WA_iRite/WARichEditorPHP.php"); ?>
<?php
if (!function_exists("GetSQLValueString")) {
function GetSQLValueString($theValue, $theType, $theDefinedValue = "", $theNotDefinedValue = "")
{
if (PHP_VERSION < 6) {
$theValue = get_magic_quotes_gpc() ? stripslashes($theValue) : $theValue;
}

$theValue = function_exists("mysql_real_escape_string") ? mysql_real_escape_string($theValue) : mysql_escape_string($theValue);

switch ($theType) {
case "text":
$theValue = ($theValue != "") ? "'" . $theValue . "'" : "NULL";
break;
case "long":
case "int":
$theValue = ($theValue != "") ? intval($theValue) : "NULL";
break;
case "double":
$theValue = ($theValue != "") ? doubleval($theValue) : "NULL";
break;
case "date":
$theValue = ($theValue != "") ? "'" . $theValue . "'" : "NULL";
break;
case "defined":
$theValue = ($theValue != "") ? $theDefinedValue : $theNotDefinedValue;
break;
}
return $theValue;
}
}

$editFormAction = $_SERVER['PHP_SELF'];
if (isset($_SERVER['QUERY_STRING'])) {
$editFormAction .= "?" . htmlentities($_SERVER['QUERY_STRING']);
}

if ((isset($_POST["MM_update"])) && ($_POST["MM_update"] == "form1")) {
$updateSQL = sprintf("UPDATE home SET home_Text=%s WHERE home_ID=%s",
GetSQLValueString($_POST['home_Text'], "text"),
GetSQLValueString($_POST['home_ID'], "int"));

mysql_select_db($database_davidmiller, $davidmiller);
$Result1 = mysql_query($updateSQL, $davidmiller) or die(mysql_error());
}

mysql_select_db($database_davidmiller, $davidmiller);
$query_index = "SELECT * FROM home";
$index = mysql_query($query_index, $davidmiller) or die(mysql_error());
$row_index = mysql_fetch_assoc($index);
$totalRows_index = mysql_num_rows($index);
