Google just announced version 3 maps which don't require an authentication key! YEAH! That works well for sites that are parked! http://googlegeodevelopers.blogspot.com/2009/05/announcing-google-maps-api-v3.html

How soon might we expect an update to promaps to take advantage of that feature?

It will probably be at least six months before we look to do another update to pro maps. We just recently released the last version and are entrenched in other projects at the moment.
