I am an almost brand new user. I have used a couple of webassist products (Sculptor, Google search) but bought the whole package two days ago.

I am trying to create a site with the Site Assist Pro Wizard. Everytime I start it crashes Dreamweaver.

I have reloaded the extensions several times and tossed the dat file several times. Don't know if this is a good thing but it seems I no longer get a dat file. I do now know where to look without looking at the documentation.

I am using Dreamweaver CS4 (Version 10.0 Build 4117) on a Mac using OS 10.5.8.

I am getting (now) an index page, about page and folders for CSSMenuWriter, siteassistpro_css, siteassistpro_css,Templates.

I tried this on my laptop at home this morning and whatever I am doing stupid I am doing there as well since I got the same results.

Do you have any security, firewall or virus scan software running while going through the extension? Do you have a page open from the current site in Dreamweaver while running the extension? Are your site files stored on a local drive or on a network drive? Is this happening when you click to open the extension or when you click to finish the wizard?

Do you have any security, firewall or virus scan software:

I have it at work but not at home and had the same issue both places

Do you have a page open from the current site in Dreamweaver while running the extension?
Yes I thought I was supposed to (let me know if I read that correctly)

Files stored on a local drive

Happenes when I click to finish the wizard and I do get a couple of pages and some folders

This user was also running into issues with SiteAssist Professional crashing dreamweaver:
http://www.webassist.com/forums/showthread.php?t=6606

Can you try following the steps outlined to get rid of the error? The wasap_wizard.js file is located in the Configuration/Commands/ directory. The Configuration directory is the one where the macfilecache.dat file is located.

Give that a try and let me know if that resolves the issue for you.

Take a look in this directory for the wasap_wizard.js file:
Hard disk: Users: <Your User Name>: Library: Application Support: Adobe: Dreamweaver CS4: en_US: Commands

Find the dw.closeDocument(tempDOM); in the apply template section of the buildPages function and delete that line.

IT WORKED-better than sliced bread! I am copying the instructions above so you can reference this message the newbie that contacts you since the answer isn't as buried.

Have a great day, good luck surviving all the new users from the big sale
