how hard is it to create new custom fields in the database?

Im wondering how difficult it is to create new custom fields into the product database. Also I would need more categories/subcategories, is this pretty simple to do or difficult?

It is as simple as it sounds. How simple depends on how simple you think it is to add a field to a database, whether you own webassist tools and/or how familiar you are with php.

If you are familiar with php, mySQL, and webassist tools it is very simple.
